The International Dyslexia Association
The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is the oldest organization dedicated to the study and treatment of dyslexia.
The IDA’s mission is to create a future for all individuals who struggle with dyslexia and other related reading differences, so that they may have richer, more robust lives and access to the tools and resources they need. Nessy is proud to be supporting the IDA through Dyslexia Awareness Month to help achieve their goals.

Screening for Dyslexia
Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 people, therefore early identification is crucial, so that we can give those who learn differently the help they need. The earlier the correct learning strategies are put into place, the better it is for the child
As dyslexia can be diagnosed from age 5.5 with 92% accuracy we recommend screening all children before age 7.
Screen for dyslexia in 20-minutes. Children will play 6 games that test their ability and you’ll receive a detailed report of the results.
It’s so important to screen early, children can be identified as young as 5.5 with 92% accuracy and this program is the ideal first stepping stone.

Professional Development Training
Currently, the US are rapidly introducing new dyslexia legislation that will give more students access to support and ensure the right intervention is in place to help. In order for intervention to take place, teachers must be given the correct training, and in Iowa, all teachers who are going through training, now use Nessy’s Professional Development Program.
Although there are 35 states with laws already in place to help those with dyslexia, there are still 15 states without any laws at all. Legislation plays a crucial step to giving those with dyslexia the help they need to succeed.
An online, 2-hour dyslexia awareness course with 6 modules and a quiz at the end of each section. Upon completion you’ll receive an awareness certificate.
This course is perfect to give all teachers, LSA’s and parents an overview of the fundamental basics of dyslexia so they can better support their students and children.

Children with dyslexia see and learn differently, so they need to be identified and supported differently. There are methods in place, like the Orton-Gillingham approach, which is designed to help those with dyslexia, who have difficulty with reading, spelling, and writing. This is the proven most effective method to help children with dyslexia as its multisensory format engages children on several levels, using visual cues and other techniques to create learning strategies that work.
Our intervention program Nessy Reading & Spelling uses the Orton-Gillingham Approach as well as other effective, newer methods such as gamification and flipping the classroom to help children reach their full potential. You can take a free 7-day trial as a parent here or sign up as a school for a 30 user, bespoke Nessy trial here.
